HR Training School
HR Training School
A structured, veterinary-specific HR capability program for Practice Managers and leaders.
Limited Spots – Next Intake Starting April 2026
In veterinary practices, Practice Managers are often promoted from clinical or nursing roles because they are trusted, capable, and deeply committed. However, they are then expected to manage complex HR, compliance, and people issues without formal training or support. The Harmonise HR Training School is a structured, 10-month program designed specifically for the veterinary sector to build confident, capable leaders who can manage people lawfully, fairly, and effectively in real clinical environments.
The curriculum covers key areas, including workplace laws, the Animal Care and Veterinary Services Award, employment contracts, performance management, leave management, conflict resolution, psychosocial hazards, and managing difficult conversations, all grounded in real veterinary practice scenarios.
This is not theory-based learning. Participants are provided with practical tools, templates, and decision-making frameworks that can be applied immediately within their practice.
By building HR capability upfront, veterinary practices reduce legal and compliance risk, improve retention and engagement, strengthen leadership accountability, and create safer, more resilient workplaces. The result is confident, capable Practice Managers who can protect employees, support the business, and safeguard the practice’s reputation, allowing owners to focus on clinical excellence and sustainable growth.
What You Will Learn
Over the 10-month HR Training School, managers will build the knowledge, confidence, and practical capability to manage people effectively across the full employee lifecycle. The program is structured to progressively develop strong, compliant, and resilient leadership practices, covering:

- Getting the Right People – Recruitment, onboarding, and role clarity to ensure the right fit from the start.
- Planning for Performance – Setting clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability frameworks that support both people and business outcomes.
- Building Strong Teams – Developing trust, engagement, and collaboration, while addressing behaviours that undermine workplace culture.
- Ensuring Safe Teams – Managing psychosocial risks, wellbeing obligations, and safety responsibilities in line with WHS requirements.
- Managing Change and Disruption – Leading teams through change, uncertainty, and operational challenges with clarity and confidence.
- Promoting Positive Attendance – Managing absenteeism lawfully and fairly, while supporting genuine health needs and business continuity.
- Difficult Conversations – Building confidence to have timely, respectful, and effective conversations that prevent issues from escalating.
- Grievances and Conflict – Responding to complaints and conflict appropriately, consistently, and in accordance with procedural fairness.
- Formal Meetings and Discipline – Conducting investigations, performance management, and disciplinary processes lawfully and professionally.
By the end of the program, participants will be equipped with practical tools, templates, and decision-making frameworks to manage complex people issues with confidence, reduce risk, strengthen workplace culture, and support sustainable practice performance.
Limited places are available to ensure meaningful discussion, practical application, and individual support throughout the program.
